LaDotta Community

This is for those of us who miss the old peace movement meetings, discussions, conversations from which so much learning flowed.

It is for those of us who have never before experienced being part of a peace movement and a safe pro-peace space, but who know that this is what they need to nurture the insight that there ARE other ways of being human.

It is also for those of us who know that peace is a quite a complex and multilayered political project, which require our full attention to the understanding of resistance to injustice as peace work; who accepts that there are serious challenges to consider in a secular approach to peace; and who realise that peace without independence and decolonisation is not possible — and that the colonial mindset might be the greatest stumbling block to peace of them all.

A Pro-Peace Community

Pro-peace communities are difficult to come by these days. As the Cold War ended, the peace breaking out turned sour as hegemonic aspirations quickly took hold among those defining themselves as belonging to the 'winning team.' The peace movement vanished, the anti-nuclear weapons movement evaporated, and decolonial liberation movements were either liberalised or re-defined as terrorists.

Since the early 1990s, pro-peacers have had no obvious place in political discourse, peace studies have transmuted into neo-liberal realist peace-as-war programmes, and those who once pioneered new peace research and new peace theory disappeared from the debating scenes.

LaDotta Community is a long-held wish-come-true of creating a safe space in which to build connections and learning, based not only in new peace theory, but in other philosophical traditions in which peace hold a strong position in and of itself — and where violence is a much, much more complex and peace-related phenomenon than we usually perceive it to be.

Access resources

LaDotta Community welcomes discussions and conversations among its members. Dialogue aiming to understand has more or less disappeared in the public space, on social media and even among friends and family. Cancel culture, hard-headed debate and rough speak are expressions of violence; LaDotta Dialogue instead focuses on pro-peace building of relationships of understanding and respect, in learning to live with and among people who beg to differ, peacefully.

As a member of LaDotta Community you have unlimited access to a growing library of texts that are not always easily accessible, as well as links to relevant programmes by other creators.

All new courses and masterclasses will be offered free of charge to community members who join as audience during recording sessions. Such sessions will always also be followed by a live Q&A.

In addition, LaDotta Community members also have access to a monthly live Peace Power Hour for inspiration and discussions of a current topic, as well as a 1/2 hour Weekly debrief.

One-on-one

As a member of the community, you have access to Coaching and the Mentorship programme at a 10% discount. The major win however, is not the discount but the access to the community and its resources. As the community grows, you might find that other members will offer their advice, expertise and experiences when you sound your worries or questions. Sometimes that perhaps might be as good as a coaching session or joining the mentorship programme.

First they ignore you. Then they laugh at you. Then they attack you. Then you win.
